Experienced Solar Panel Installers

At AEC we have over 12 years of experience installing, maintaining and upgrading renewable energy Solar PV Systems. There is very little which we have not come across before on Solar PV systems, traveling the length and breadth of Scotland and the north of England installing everything from 3 panel domestic installs to 250kW plus large scale industrial installations and everything in between. We pride ourselves on our excellent workmanship, responsive support and competitive pricing.

What Are They?
What Are They?

Photovoltaic cells, PV for short, are small, square, and thin panels made of layers of semiconductors, silicon in most cases.

How Do They Work?
How Do They Work?

When light hits these PV cells electric current is created within the layers by way of chemical reactions. The panels essentially harvest light photons and change them into a useable form of energy.

How Can They be Improved?
How Can They be Improved?

The generated DC electricity then flows into the solar PV system where an inverter changes the current into a form useable by your home. Any unused electricity will be exported into the grid.

Depth of Discharge

Because most solar batteries need to retain some charge to function properly, most manufacturers will specify the maximum depth of discharge; a higher depth of discharge means you can utilise more of your battery's capacity.

Round Trip Efficiency

This represents the energy used for your battery to function. For example, if you feed 10kWh into a battery and get 8kWh back, the battery would have an efficiency of 80%. The higher the round trip efficiency - the better value you will get.

Lifespan

Due to fundamental constraints of the lithium-ion technology, Batteries eventually become less efficient at charging over time. Different brands offer products with different lifespans and a warranty that reflects this.

Hybrid Inverter

Just setting out on your renewable energy journey? A Hybrid Inverter will help you get the most from your system - for maximum energy efficiency, and maximum savings.

  • Affordable - We make clean energy accessible to all. Get a premium invert, for a great price.
  • Connected - In-built WiFi plus LAN to give you a fast, reliable connection.
  • Efficient - Meet even high energy needs, with output power of up to 11000W.
  • Sleek - Electronic equipment needn't look ugly. Enjoy sleek, compact design.
  • Robust - With water and dust resistance, our hybrid inverter is built to withstand the weather.
  • Safe - Your hybrid inverter offers every protection to keep your property safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, all the batteries that we fit come with an unlimited (charge/discharge), industry leading, 12 year warranty.
We are registered installers for all the batteries that we fit, in some cases an advanced installer and have attended the relevant training courses.
The smallest individual battery we supply is the Givenergy 2.6kWh and the biggest is the Givenergy Gen2 at 9.5kWh.
We use Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries which are the safest on the market and 100% fully recycleable. These systems are modular with the GivEnergy inverters being capable of storing up to a massive 41kWh.
The biggest battery we supply is the 9.5kWh Gen2-Givenergy battery which measures is 480mm (w) x 800mm (h) x 223mm (d) and weighs 110 kg
AEC will carry out a full survey of your property and help you to choose the best location to install your battery. Common options include a cupboard, garage, utility room, etc. however loft and attic spaces are not recommended.
Solar Panels can be installed on any roof facing South, SE or SW although they will perform better and produce more electricity if they face South.
AEC can fit Solar Panels to your roof or install on the ground. Our bespoke service caters for all situations including smaller properties/land so please book a consultation to find out what we can do for you.
No, Solar Panels are effective to some extent in any light level and actually work best at around 10℃.
AEC supply Solar Panels from Trina, Canadian Solar and Longi, all of which are MCS Certified.
You can expect any panels expertly fitted and maintained by AEC to last for at least 25 years.
Installation time depends on the size, scope, and complexity of the project but a typical system install will take 2 to 3 days of work and possibly longer if permits are required.
The regular rainfall we receive here in Scotland cleans roof mounted panels of debris well enough, but under certain circumstances panels may need to be manually cleaned. In the winter it is advised that the snow be swept clear where possible, allowing for the sun to get to your PV solar panels and continue to generate power throughout the winter season.
From time to time you should check for cracks in the panels, monitor the system output, inspect the condition of your roof, and look over system components for wear and tear.
Solar Panels don't need a battery to work however energy storage allows you to use more of the energy you generated rather than exporting it back to the grid and provides backup power during power grid outages.
Not by themselves - Solar Panels only produce electricity during daylight so a battery system is required to be able to go completely off-grid.
Solar Panels are actually automatically disabled during a power cut to protect workers who may be repairing the grid. Maintaining power during a power outage requires a battery system which AEC can supply and install for you.
